A first-ever government census of natural springs has revealed a critical situation across India. The Jal Shakti Ministry's report identifies 14,468 springs in 10 states, with Manipur and Maharashtra having the highest numbers. Worryingly, hundreds of perennial springs are rapidly drying up, directly impacting the lives of approximately 20 crore people who depend on them. This alarming trend poses a severe risk of a major water crisis if immediate action is not taken.

प्राकृतिक झरनों की पहली सरकारी जनगणना ने पूरे भारत में एक गंभीर स्थिति का खुलासा किया है। जल शक्ति मंत्रालय की रिपोर्ट में 10 राज्यों में 14,468 झरने पाए गए हैं, जिनमें मणिपुर और महाराष्ट्र में सबसे ज़्यादा संख्या है। चिंता की बात यह है कि सैकड़ों बारहमासी झरने तेज़ी से सूख रहे हैं, जिससे सीधे तौर पर लगभग 20 करोड़ लोगों के जीवन पर असर पड़ रहा है जो उन पर निर्भर हैं। अगर तुरंत कार्रवाई नहीं की गई तो यह खतरनाक प्रवृत्ति एक बड़े जल संकट का गंभीर खतरा पैदा करती है।
