PGIMER to get AI machine for breast cancer

The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) will soon acquire a new mammography machine integrated with artificial intelligence software. This AI-enabled technology will assist doctors in detecting and assessing breast abnormalities, including early signs of cancer, by providing an additional layer of analysis. The machine is expected to offer a second opinion for interpreting mammography images, particularly benefiting resident doctors. AI can also help in identifying small calcifications, which are early markers of cancer, and objectively assess breast density, a known risk factor.
