Gurgaon-Delhi Expressway Gridlocked for Hours Due to Heavy Police Checking

Times of India · india

Thousands of commuters faced a nightmarish Sunday as a massive traffic jam choked the Delhi-bound carriageway of the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway at the Sirhaul border. Vehicles were stranded for hours, with queues stretching from IFFCO Chowk, as police conducted extensive vehicle checks ahead of new anti-pollution restrictions in Delhi. The congestion coincided with Rahul Gandhi's 'Chalo Delhi' rally, which also saw buses carrying supporters caught in the gridlock. Despite a large police deployment, the extensive checking and barricading led to unprecedented chaos for motorists.
