Mumbai Slum Authority to Hear Private Landowners Before Declaring Slums

SRA will now hold hearings for private landowners before declaring their properties as slum areas. This new procedure ensures landowners are notified and given a chance to raise objections, a departure from the previous practice of issuing only a notification. The Bombay High Court had previously questioned the SRA's authority to declare private land as slums without landowner input. This move aims to enhance natural justice, fairness, and transparency in the slum rehabilitation process, giving landowners a voice in development plans affecting their property.

एसआरए अब अपनी संपत्तियों को झुग्गी क्षेत्र घोषित करने से पहले निजी जमीन मालिकों के लिए सुनवाई करेगा। यह नई प्रक्रिया सुनिश्चित करती है कि जमीन मालिकों को सूचित किया जाए और आपत्तियां उठाने का मौका मिले, जो केवल एक अधिसूचना जारी करने की पिछली प्रथा से अलग है। बॉम्बे हाई कोर्ट ने पहले जमीन मालिकों की राय के बिना निजी भूमि को झुग्गी घोषित करने के एसआरए के अधिकार पर सवाल उठाया था। इस कदम का उद्देश्य झुग्गी पुनर्वास प्रक्रिया में प्राकृतिक न्याय, निष्पक्षता और पारदर्शिता को बढ़ाना है, जिससे जमीन मालिकों को उनकी संपत्ति को प्रभावित करने वाली विकास योजनाओं में आवाज मिले।
