Shimla Police Detain 43 Drug Traffickers Under PIT-NDPS Act This Year

Times of India · india

Shimla police have detained 43 habitual drug traffickers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act this year. This marks a significant increase from just three detentions in 2025 and none in 2024. The preventive action aims to disrupt ongoing drug trade operations by targeting repeat offenders. One recent detention involved Saurabh, against whom two NDPS cases are registered, with heroin seized in previous incidents. This proactive approach seeks to curb drug supply chains more effectively than traditional arrests alone.
