Maharashtra Highway Police have imposed a permanent ban on heavy vehicles using the new connecting link of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, effective. This restriction applies to all goods-carrying vehicles, including small commercial vehicles like pickup vans and Tata Aces, due to the tunnel's design and technical aspects. Private cars, jeeps, and passenger buses will still be permitted on this route. The administration aims to enhance passenger safety by implementing these new regulations. Vehicles carrying flammable or hazardous materials must use the older expressway route.

महाराष्ट्र हाईवे पुलिस ने मुंबई-पुणे एक्सप्रेसवे के नए कनेक्टिंग लिंक पर भारी वाहनों के लिए स्थायी प्रतिबंध लगा दिया है। यह प्रतिबंध सुरंग के डिज़ाइन और तकनीकी पहलुओं के कारण सभी माल ढोने वाले वाहनों, जैसे पिकअप वैन और टाटा ऐस जैसे छोटे वाणिज्यिक वाहनों पर लागू होगा। निजी कारें, जीप और यात्री बसें इस मार्ग पर चलती रहेंगी। प्रशासन का लक्ष्य इन नए नियमों को लागू करके यात्रियों की सुरक्षा बढ़ाना है। ज्वलनशील या खतरनाक सामग्री ले जाने वाले वाहनों को पुराने एक्सप्रेसवे मार्ग का उपयोग करना होगा।
