American Stephen Hubbard has been released from a Russian prison and is returning home, following confirmation from US President Donald Trump. Trump stated that the US did not have to offer anything in return for the freedom of the 74-year-old former teacher. Hubbard was sentenced to seven years in 2024 after being convicted in a closed-door trial for signing a contract with the Ukrainian military and fighting alongside its forces.
