Centre Seeks More Time On Three-Language Policy

The Union government has requested additional time from the Supreme Court to decide on a proposal to exempt current Class 6 students from the three-language policy. The court previously suggested making the policy mandatory for Class 6 only from January 1, 2027, to provide relief to students. Justices emphasized considering student comfort and asked about teacher availability and infrastructure for the scheme. The case was adjourned to September 28, 2026.

केंद्र सरकार ने सुप्रीम कोर्ट से तीन-भाषा नीति से कक्षा 6 के वर्तमान छात्रों को छूट देने के प्रस्ताव पर फैसला लेने के लिए और समय मांगा है। कोर्ट ने पहले सुझाव दिया था कि छात्रों को राहत देने के लिए यह नीति 1 जनवरी, 2027 से कक्षा 6 के लिए अनिवार्य की जाए। जजों ने छात्रों की सुविधा पर विचार करने पर जोर दिया और शिक्षकों की उपलब्धता व ढांचे के बारे में पूछा। मामले की अगली सुनवाई 28 सितंबर, 2026 को होगी।
