Hindustan Times · india

Rae Bareli police have dropped the attempt to murder charge against three men accused of attacking a woman and her daughter. The accused secured bail despite allegations that police failed to disclose they were wanted in a separate case involving an assault on a Dalit woman. The attacked woman's family had helped the Dalit family register an FIR against a village pradhan and his sons. The Inspector General of Police has ordered a probe by an officer from another district due to questions over charge alteration and case handling.
