Times of India · politics
Kerala's Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan announced significant growth in the state's own tax and non-tax revenue, alongside GST collections, without imposing any new taxes. Own tax revenue increased by Rs 6,486 crore (16.54%), while non-tax revenue saw a substantial rise of Rs 4,295 crore (71.96%). GST revenue also showed strong performance, growing by 19% up to September and reaching 28% in October. The CM attributed this success partly to strategic welfare payments stimulating the economy, calling it a successful Keynesian experiment.
