The Forest Department has intensified efforts to track the animal suspected of killing a 36-year-old daily-wage worker near Hasanur. Camera traps, drones, and night patrols are being deployed in forest-fringe areas. The partially consumed body of V. Periyasamy was found near the forest boundary on Sunday morning. While residents suspect a leopard due to cattle kills, the department has not yet confirmed the species. Residents have been advised not to venture out after sunset, and a local liquor shop was asked to close early.
