A rare Fabergé hardstone figurine, depicting a Cossack bodyguard to Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, has sold for a record $5.2 million at auction. The seven-inch figure, created in 1912, was purchased by a New York collector in 1934 and remained hidden in an attic for nearly 80 years. It resurfaced in 2013 and was sold at Stair Galleries in Hudson, New York, fetching a price significantly higher than its estimated value.
