New White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia has admitted she failed the California bar exam on her first attempt in 2011. She explained that she never retook the exam as she moved to China with her husband shortly after graduating from Pepperdine Law School. Zacharia stated she was permitted to call herself a lawyer, not an attorney, and used this title throughout her career. She also addressed her first press conference, noting she had minimal preparation time but felt she did her best.
