RBI Approves Emirates NBD Indian Branches Amalgamation With RBL Bank

The Reserve Bank of India has approved the amalgamation of Emirates NBD's Indian branches with RBL Bank, effective December 1, 2026. This follows Emirates NBD's acquisition of a majority stake in RBL Bank in June 2026 through a Rs 26,000 crore capital infusion, giving them 60 per cent ownership. The transaction, announced in October 2025, marks the largest foreign direct investment in India's banking sector. Emirates NBD's nominee directors will join RBL Bank's board, subject to shareholder approval.

भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने Emirates NBD की भारतीय शाखाओं का RBL Bank में विलय को मंजूरी दे दी है, जो 1 दिसंबर, 2026 से प्रभावी होगा। यह जून 2026 में Emirates NBD द्वारा 26,000 करोड़ रुपये के पूंजी निवेश के माध्यम से RBL Bank में बहुमत हिस्सेदारी के अधिग्रहण के बाद हुआ है, जिससे उन्हें 60 प्रतिशत स्वामित्व मिला है। अक्टूबर 2025 में घोषित इस सौदे ने भारत के बैंकिंग क्षेत्र में सबसे बड़े प्रत्यक्ष विदेशी निवेश को चिह्नित किया है। Emirates NBD के मनोनीत निदेशक शेयरधारकों की मंजूरी के अधीन RBL Bank के बोर्ड में शामिल होंगे।
