Odisha Yet to Assess MMDR Act Revenue Impact

Odisha's government has not yet assessed the potential revenue impact of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2026. Steel and mines minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena informed the assembly that an evaluation can only occur after the Centre frames rules under the revised Act. Opposition parties, including Congress and BJD, are protesting, arguing the amendment dilutes states' taxation powers over mineral resources.
