NGOs Urge Permanent Ban on Vantara Animal Imports

A coalition of 27 global conservation organisations has urged Vantara, a private zoo owned by the Ambani family, to permanently ban wild animal imports. They argue that Vantara's temporary moratorium until June 2027 could encourage wildlife traffickers to stockpile animals. The groups also called for independent scrutiny of Vantara's due-diligence system and public disclosure of its animal inventory. Vantara stated future imports will adhere to government procedures and come from accredited facilities.
