Groping Breasts Not Routine Gynaecological Exam: Court

The Gauhati High Court has ruled that groping a patient's breasts is not part of a routine gynaecological examination. This clarification came in a case where a doctor was convicted for such an act 17 years ago. Considering the doctor's age, the court reduced his sentence to a ₹5,000 fine, with a default imprisonment of two months.

गुवाहाटी हाई कोर्ट ने साफ कर दिया है कि मरीज़ के स्तनों को छूना किसी सामान्य स्त्री रोग जांच का हिस्सा नहीं है। यह फैसला एक ऐसे मामले में आया है जहाँ एक डॉक्टर को 17 साल पहले ऐसे ही एक मामले में दोषी ठहराया गया था। डॉक्टर की उम्र को देखते हुए, कोर्ट ने उनकी सज़ा घटाकर ₹5,000 का जुर्माना कर दिया है, जिसमें डिफ़ॉल्ट सज़ा के तौर पर दो महीने की जेल होगी।
