गढ़वाल यूनिवर्सिटी की तीसरी वर्ष की बीएससी लाइफ साइंस की छात्रा सौम्या जोशी ने कैंसर मरीजों को अपने लंबे बाल दान किए हैं। कीमोथेरेपी के दौरान बाल झड़ने से होने वाली भावनात्मक परेशानी को देखकर, उन्होंने पहले बाल दान कर चुकी एक वरिष्ठ छात्रा से प्रेरणा ली। जोशी का यह कार्य उपचार करा रहे मरीजों का आत्मविश्वास बढ़ाने और उन्हें भावनात्मक सहारा देने के उद्देश्य से है। उनका मानना है कि बाल दान जैसे छोटे दयालुता के कार्य समाज में महत्वपूर्ण सकारात्मक बदलाव ला सकते हैं।
