Pitcher Tarik Skubal's $500 Million Deal Questioned By Ron Darling

Times of India · sports

Former pitcher Ron Darling has questioned the immense value of potential $500 million contracts for top pitchers like Tarik Skubal. Darling argues that starting pitchers rarely complete games, often leaving before the final innings, which diminishes their overall impact. He compared it to star basketball or football players not playing the entire game. Darling acknowledged Skubal's talent, noting the Dodgers acquired him in August 2026. However, he stressed that teams must consider if such a large investment truly makes a difference, especially with bullpen reliance.
