Delaware's 325-Foot Twin Capes Ferry Sunk In 2018 To Create Artificial Reef
Hindustan Times · environment
The M/V Twin Capes, a Delaware ferry that served passengers for 43 years, was intentionally sunk on June 15, 2018, to become part of an offshore artificial reef. The 325-foot vessel, launched in 1975, was acquired by Coleen Marine and deployed at the Del-Jersey-Land Inshore Artificial Reef. Its complex structure, standing about 70 feet tall, is expected to attract fish and provide a new site for recreational diving. The ferry joins other vessels, including a U.S. Navy destroyer, at the reef site, enhancing marine habitats.
