S&P Global Warns of Hidden AI Debt at Tech Giants

Economic Times · business

S&P Global has flagged that major technology companies might be holding more AI-related liabilities than currently disclosed. This warning comes as spending on data centers and AI infrastructure continues to surge globally. Mark Habib of S&P Global noted that complex financing arrangements could obscure debt obligations linked to AI projects. While current ratings remain unchanged, S&P is monitoring the situation closely, especially concerning the profitability of these massive AI investments. The agency expects six major US hyperscalers to spend over $7 trillion on AI infrastructure between 2025 and 2030.
