Thailand Inflation Surges Past Central Bank Target Due To Fuel Costs
Hindustan Times - Business · business
Thailand's consumer inflation accelerated to 3.9% in October, significantly exceeding the central bank's 1%-3% target range and surpassing economists' forecasts. This surge was primarily driven by increased fuel prices, a consequence of the ongoing Middle East conflict impacting global energy markets. Core inflation, excluding volatile food and energy, also saw a slight increase to 1.58%. The central bank, which held its policy rate at 1.00% in October, is monitoring whether these cost pressures will translate into broader consumer price hikes.
