Police in Madikeri have issued strict regulations for the upcoming Gonikoppal Dasara procession, directing Dasha mantapa committees to adhere to sound limits and schedules. Virajpet DSP Mahesh Kumar emphasized that the procession should showcase Kodagu’s culture and heritage, with each of the 10 tableau groups allowed only four speakers. Citing a recent fatal fire incident during a festival, police confirmed that DJ music will not be permitted, encouraging cultural performances instead. Thousands are expected to attend the 11-day festival, with police personnel assigned to each mantapa for enforcement.
