Mumbai Buildings Without OC: Amnesty Scheme Sees Less Than 10 Applications

Times of India · india

Nearly 19,000 buildings in Mumbai are operating without an Occupation Certificate (OC), yet fewer than 10 applications have been submitted for the BMC's revised OC Amnesty Scheme. The scheme, launched with concessions for eligible buildings occupied before November 17, 2016, aims to regularise structures with proper development permissions. Industry representatives cite low awareness, procedural complexities, and high costs, with some flat owners facing regularisation expenses of up to Rs 20 lakh. A public seminar is scheduled for November 3 to address these issues.
