पश्चिम बंगाल के मुख्यमंत्री सुवेंदु अधिकारी ने उम्मीद जताई है कि केंद्रीय गृह मंत्रालय राज्य के "एंटी-गुंडा" बिल को कुछ ही दिनों में मंजूरी दे देगा। विधानसभा से पारित इस बिल को ड्रग कानूनों और मृत्युदंड से संबंधित प्रावधानों के कारण केंद्रीय मंजूरी का इंतजार है। अधिकारी ने हाल ही में पुलिसकर्मियों पर हुए हमलों और डायल 112 आपातकालीन प्रतिक्रिया प्रणाली के शुभारंभ का हवाला देते हुए पुलिस बल को मजबूत करने की आवश्यकता पर भी जोर दिया। यह नई प्रणाली नागरिकों को एक ही संपर्क बिंदु के माध्यम से पुलिस, अग्निशमन और एम्बुलेंस सेवाओं तक तत्काल पहुंच प्रदान करने का लक्ष्य रखती है।
