The Madhya Pradesh High Court has directed the Union government to produce the Centrally Empowered Committee (CEC) report concerning alleged irregularities in the Ken-Betwa link project. This directive came while the court was hearing a PIL that warned of significant social and environmental consequences. The PIL claims the project could lead to the submergence of half of the Panna Tiger Reserve and the felling of over 60 lakh trees, severely impacting wildlife.
