Stampede Probe Report Deadline Too Short, SIT Head Says

The head of a special investigation team probing a deadly Durga Puja stampede in Kolkata has stated that three months is insufficient time to submit the final report. Justice Anindita Roy Saraswati, leading the six-member SIT, acknowledged the tight deadline set by the government but pledged to strive to meet it. The stampede, which occurred on October 17 at the Chorbagan Durga Puja pandal, resulted in 19 fatalities and left 25 individuals injured. The SIT will investigate the incident's causes, examine evidence including CCTV footage, and recommend preventive measures.

कोलकाता में एक घातक दुर्गा पूजा भगदड़ की जांच कर रही एक विशेष जांच दल (एसआईटी) के प्रमुख ने कहा है कि अंतिम रिपोर्ट जमा करने के लिए तीन महीने का समय अपर्याप्त है। छह-सदस्यीय एसआईटी का नेतृत्व कर रहीं जस्टिस अनिंदिता रॉय सरस्वती ने सरकार द्वारा निर्धारित समय सीमा को स्वीकार किया, लेकिन इसे पूरा करने का प्रयास करने का वादा किया। 17 अक्टूबर को चोरবাগান दुर्गा पूजा पंडाल में हुई भगदड़ में 19 लोगों की मौत हो गई थी और 25 अन्य घायल हो गए थे। एसआईटी घटना के कारणों की जांच करेगी, सीसीटीवी फुटेज सहित सबूतों की जांच करेगी और निवारक उपायों की सिफारिश करेगी।
