Medical Trips Most Expensive in India, Survey Reveals High Treatment Costs

Health and medical trips are the costliest among all travel purposes in India, with average expenditures of Rs 29,454 in rural areas and Rs 41,649 in urban areas. Over 70% of this expenditure is dedicated to medical treatment itself. The survey, part of the National Sample Survey's 80th round, also found that pilgrimage was the most frequent travel purpose, accounting for 48.7% of trips. For medical travel, rented transport was most popular, followed by buses, while personal vehicles were used less frequently.

भारत में सभी यात्राओं के उद्देश्यों में स्वास्थ्य और मेडिकल यात्राएं सबसे महंगी हैं, जिनमें ग्रामीण इलाकों में औसतन ₹29,454 और शहरी इलाकों में ₹41,649 खर्च आता है। इस खर्च का 70% से अधिक हिस्सा मेडिकल इलाज पर ही खर्च होता है। नेशनल सैंपल सर्वे के 80वें दौर के हिस्से के रूप में किए गए इस सर्वे में यह भी पाया गया कि तीर्थयात्रा यात्रा का सबसे आम उद्देश्य था, जो 48.7% यात्राओं के लिए जिम्मेदार था। मेडिकल यात्राओं के लिए किराए के वाहन सबसे लोकप्रिय थे, उसके बाद बसें थीं, जबकि निजी वाहनों का इस्तेमाल कम बार किया गया।
