The Hindu · india

Polling time has been reduced by two hours at 44 polling stations along the Andhra Pradesh borders with Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana for local body elections in Polavaram district. Continuous rainfall and poor accessibility have created challenges for election officials. Polling will now run from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at these stations. Over 2,500 personnel have been deployed for the elections, with the police department adding 1,100 personnel. This marks the first local body election in Polavaram district since it was declared 'Naxal-free' in March 2026.
