AI Agents Show Gender Bias, Paying Female AI Less Than Male
TV9 Hindi · technology
A study by University of Limerick researchers found that people tend to discriminate against AI agents based on gender. Participants in a VR office setting paid a female-presenting AI agent 10.25% less than a male-presenting AI agent for the same work, despite identical technology and tasks. The male AI was perceived as more human-like. This highlights how pre-existing societal biases can be reflected in AI design and human interaction with technology. As AI agents become more prevalent in workplaces, their design and perceived identity can significantly influence trust and decision-making.
