The proposed Shree Jagannath International Airport in Puri has moved closer to reality after the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change granted final environmental clearance. This crucial step removes a major obstacle for the project's construction, which will span 471 hectares of land at Sipasarubali. The airport is projected to handle an estimated 4.6 million passengers annually. The final clearance signifies that the required forest land is now part of the project, allowing it to proceed with an estimated cost of Rs 5,631 crore.
