US Denies Visa, Palestinian President Addresses UN

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas addressed the UN General Assembly via prerecorded remarks from Ramallah. The United States denied visas to Abbas and other senior Palestinian officials, preventing their in-person attendance for the second consecutive year. Abbas, who has led the Palestinian Authority since 2005, has seen Palestine recognized as a state by a majority of UN members. However, these gains have not altered Israel's occupation of the West Bank.
