Kerala HC: Routine Accident Case Not Ground For Temple Panel Disqualification

Times of India · india

The Kerala High Court has ruled that a routine criminal case registered for a vehicle accident, without allegations of moral turpitude, cannot disqualify an individual from serving on a temple advisory committee. The court considered a petition from a member of the Adinad Sakthikulangara Sree Durga Bhadra Bhagavathy Temple's committee who was disqualified over a rash and negligent driving case. The bench noted the case lacked moral turpitude and allowed the petition, setting aside the disqualification order. This ruling clarifies the criteria for disqualification, emphasizing the nature of the offense.
