The Hindu · india

Supreme Court judge Justice Ujjal Bhuyan stated that societies accepting unverified claims and fearing questions become vulnerable to misinformation and authoritarianism. He emphasized that building a scientific temper, as enshrined in the Constitution, requires the capacity for rational thought and inquiry, extending beyond laboratories to students. Justice Bhuyan highlighted the need for empirical evidence in public discourse and urged students to develop habits of inquiry to discern misinformation. He cautioned against divisive 'us' and 'they' narratives, advocating for the inclusive 'we' of the Preamble to foster unity amidst diversity.
