Al Jazeera · world

Tens of thousands protested across France, with unions and teachers joining students demanding better learning conditions and more education funding. Students have blocked high school entrances due to issues like missing teachers and dilapidated buildings. While many demonstrations were peaceful, some involved property damage and clashes with riot police. The government reported hundreds of injuries to students and police, and over 5,000 arrests, with 87% being minors. Authorities are also proposing legislation to make those damaging public property liable for repair costs.
