Indian Rupee Gains 20 Paise Against US Dollar Amid RBI Support and Greenback Weakness

The Indian Rupee opened stronger on Friday, appreciating by 20 paise to trade at 94.79 against the US dollar. This gain was attributed to a weaker US dollar and structural forex interventions by the Reserve Bank of India. However, the appreciation was somewhat capped by elevated crude oil prices and an initial negative trend in domestic stock markets. Analysts noted that a decline in the dollar index and softening US Treasury yields also provided support, though hotter-than-expected US PPI data and strong retail sales figures were also reported.
