Consumers in Chennai and its suburbs may continue to receive inflated power bills as the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation (TNPDCL) has delayed outsourcing meter reading assessments. Despite a September circular directing field officers to engage third-party agencies to address a significant shortage of assessors, contracts have not been finalized in key regions. This delay stems from high quoting prices by bidders and a lack of qualified manpower.
