Federal Panel Approves Final Design For New Underground White House Security Screening Center

A federal panel has given final approval to the design and building plans for a new underground facility to screen visitors to the White House. The National Capital Planning Commission advanced the proposal, which aims to replace temporary security structures with a permanent, 33,000-square-foot building. The administration hopes to have the facility operational by July 2028. This project is a collaboration between the Executive Office of the President, the U.S. Secret Service, and the National Park Service.
