Global PC Shipments Plummet 22.4% in Q3 2026 Due to Component Costs
The Hindu - Business · business
The global personal computer market experienced a significant contraction in the third quarter of 2026, with worldwide shipments falling by 22.4% year-over-year to 55.4 million units. This sharp decline, unlike previous inventory-driven slumps, was primarily caused by severe component cost inflation, particularly a fivefold surge in DRAM prices. Consequently, PC vendors passed these higher costs onto consumers, making devices unaffordable and leading to reduced sales across all major manufacturers. Even market leader Lenovo saw a 22.4% drop, while HP Inc. faced the steepest decline.
