Cricketer Abhishek Porel Granted Bail After Month

Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper-batter Abhishek Porel has reportedly been granted bail after spending over a month in jail. He was arrested on August 11 in Hooghly district following a complaint by a medical student alleging rape, assault, and criminal intimidation. The student claimed a long-standing relationship and a broken promise of marriage. The Calcutta High Court had directed police to arrest Porel on July 20 after the woman approached them.

दिल्ली कैपिटल्स के विकेटकीपर-बल्लेबाज अभिषेक पोरेल को एक महीने से ज़्यादा जेल में बिताने के बाद ज़मानत मिल गई है। उन्हें 11 अगस्त को हुगली ज़िले में एक मेडिकल छात्रा की शिकायत पर गिरफ्तार किया गया था। छात्रा ने पोरेल पर रेप, मारपीट और धमकी देने का आरोप लगाया था। छात्रा का कहना था कि उनका पुराना रिश्ता था और शादी का वादा तोड़ा गया। कलकत्ता हाई कोर्ट ने 20 जुलाई को पुलिस को पोरेल को गिरफ्तार करने का आदेश दिया था।
