VIT to Install 65 LED Streetlights on Vellore Road to Prevent Accidents

Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) will install 65 LED streetlights on the new Sathuvachari-VIT High Road in Vellore to enhance road safety and prevent accidents. The ₹90-crore, 3.2 km stretch, which connects to NH 48 near the Collectorate, currently lacks adequate lighting beyond the new Palar River bridge. This initiative, undertaken as part of VIT's Corporate Social Responsibility, follows a report highlighting the dangers faced by motorists and pedestrians. The civic bodies will be responsible for the maintenance and electricity charges of the streetlights after installation.

वेलोर इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ टेक्नोलॉजी (VIT) वेलोर में नई सतुवाचारी-VIT हाई रोड पर 65 LED स्ट्रीटलाइट लगाएगा ताकि सड़क सुरक्षा बढ़ाई जा सके और दुर्घटनाओं को रोका जा सके। ₹90 करोड़ की लागत वाला 3.2 किमी का यह रास्ता, जो कलेक्टर के पास NH 48 से जुड़ता है, में फिलहाल नए पालर नदी पुल के आगे पर्याप्त रोशनी नहीं है। VIT की कॉर्पोरेट सोशल रिस्पॉन्सिबिलिटी के तहत उठाया गया यह कदम, मोटर चालकों और पैदल चलने वालों के सामने आने वाले खतरों को उजागर करने वाली एक रिपोर्ट के बाद आया है। स्थापना के बाद स्ट्रीटलाइटों के रखरखाव और बिजली के बिल की जिम्मेदारी स्थानीय निकायों की होगी।
