West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has directed that only individuals following the Sanatan Dharma will be permitted to touch Durga idols during immersion ceremonies in the Hooghly River. This directive aims to uphold religious traditions and ensure the sanctity of the immersion process. Security measures have been significantly enhanced following a stampede that claimed 19 lives, with 18 IPS officers deployed to monitor immersion activities across Kolkata and surrounding areas to 24.

पश्चिम बंगाल के मुख्यमंत्री सुवेंदु अधिकारी ने निर्देश दिया है कि हुगली नदी में विसर्जन समारोह के दौरान केवल सनातन धर्म का पालन करने वाले व्यक्तियों को ही दुर्गा मूर्तियों को छूने की अनुमति होगी। इस निर्देश का उद्देश्य धार्मिक परंपराओं को बनाए रखना और विसर्जन प्रक्रिया की पवित्रता सुनिश्चित करना है। 19 लोगों की जान लेने वाली भगदड़ के बाद सुरक्षा उपायों को काफी बढ़ा दिया गया है, जिसमें कोलकाता और आसपास के इलाकों में विसर्जन गतिविधियों की निगरानी के लिए 18 IPS अधिकारियों को 24 तक तैनात किया गया है।
