Ethiopia's Fragile Peace Ends Amid New Alliance

Four years of fragile peace in northern Ethiopia have ended with the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) forming an opposition alliance with former rivals. The fighters aim to overthrow the government in Addis Ababa. This marks the most significant escalation since a 2022 peace deal concluded a civil war. However, some commitments from that agreement remain unfulfilled, with both the government and TPLF accusing each other of violations.
