Prison officials in Kannur Central Jail discovered a mobile phone, two power banks, a charger, and three data cables hidden beneath stone slabs on Monday. The prohibited items were found behind the jail's second block. Following a complaint by Joint Superintendent A. Shaiju, the Town police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. This repeated seizure of contraband has raised serious concerns about the jail's security protocols. Officials suspect that inadequate inspection of food and cooking materials may be facilitating the smuggling of such articles into the prison.
