Climate Change Poses Growing Health Risks To Indians, Lancet Report Flags

Times of India · health

Climate change is increasingly impacting the health of Indians, with risks ranging from prolonged heat stress and sleep loss to a greater suitability for dengue and malaria transmission, according to a Lancet report. Indians faced over 2,600 hours annually of moderate to higher heat stress risk and lost an estimated 64 hours of sleep yearly due to high night temperatures. The report also noted increased transmission potential for dengue-carrying mosquitoes and expanded conditions favourable for malaria.
