Shefali Shah has revealed that Amitabh Bachchan recommended her name for the role of a mother in the 2005 film 'Waqt'. Her husband and director Vipul Shah was initially hesitant, fearing it would typecast her. Jaya Bachchan and Hema Malini were considered for the role before Shefali took it on. Despite her initial reservations, Shefali found the character of Sumi compelling. She acknowledged that playing an older role at a young age impacted her subsequent career choices, leading to many 'mommy' role offers.
