Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid has reportedly renewed his multiyear partnership with BetMGM, continuing to promote gambling in Ontario under "responsible gambling" messaging. This extension faces criticism from gambling-harm advocates, who cite studies indicating such warnings are ineffective and that youth are vulnerable to betting advertisements. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario had previously banned ads featuring athletes, but commercials promoting "responsible gaming" were released shortly after to circumvent the rule. BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt stated the partnership has made responsible gambling messaging engaging.
