A surprise check uncovered ₹1.35 lakh in suspected bribe money. Digital transactions of an assistant engineer also showed significant unexplained credits. The DVAC is investigating if the cash and digital transfers are linked to corporation works and official favours. This development follows a property tax scam last year that led to several resignations.

डीवीएसी ने मदुरै कॉर्पोरेशन में भ्रष्टाचार के आरोपों को लेकर 14 लोगों, जिनमें इंजीनियर और ठेकेदार शामिल हैं, के खिलाफ मामला दर्ज किया है। एक अचानक हुई जांच में ₹1.35 लाख की संदिग्ध रिश्वत राशि मिली। एक सहायक इंजीनियर के डिजिटल लेनदेन में भी बड़ी रकम के अज्ञात स्रोत सामने आए हैं। डीवीएसी जांच कर रही है कि क्या यह नकदी और डिजिटल ट्रांसफर कॉर्पोरेशन के कामों और आधिकारिक पक्षपात से जुड़े हैं। यह मामला पिछले साल के प्रॉपर्टी टैक्स घोटाले के बाद आया है।
