BBC Hindi · education

In a historic achievement, Nashra Naeem has been elected AMU Students' Union, marking the first time a woman has held this position in the institution's 105-year history. Mohammad Noman Ashraf won the presidential seat. The student union, reinstated this year after a student protest, saw significant female participation, with women securing six out of thirteen positions, including five cabinet roles. Ashraf highlighted issues like employment, women's safety, and corruption as key campaign points, emphasizing a shift towards issue-based voting over regional politics.
