Erode Tribal Villages Cut Off By Rivers, Demand Bridge and All-Weather Road

TOI - Delhi · india

Over 100 tribal families and 300 backward community families in Erode district remain isolated during monsoons due to lack of a bridge and all-weather road. The Palar and Maniyachi rivers overflow, cutting off Velampatty and Mattimarathalli for up to three months annually. This isolation severely impacts access to healthcare, education, and essential supplies, forcing residents to travel long distances for medical emergencies. Residents have proposed developing a forest road and are seeking intervention from political leaders for a permanent solution.
